Ellen is the primary coach for Orca 2 and Orca 3, and she assists with the other groups.
Ellen swam as a child in New Mexico and Colorado and graduated from Iowa State University. Ellen has been involved with the ORCAS since 1992 as a parent and later as a volunteer, official, board member and club president. She and her husband Dave have three children who all swam for the Orcas.
As her children grew up (daughter Janet swam for Concordia in Moorhead, daughter Beth is the Head of Developmental Programs for the Orcas, and son Matt swam for St. Cloud State) she transitioned into working part-time as an administrative assistant for the club and began coaching our youngest novice swimmers in December 2008.
By the summer of 2009 she was working full-time as a coach with all training groups and doing many of the club administrative functions. In the spring of 2010 she became the main coach for our 5-8 year old novice swimmers and assumed full-time responsiblities as Club Administrator.
